Kick Back Day

Today was a mutually designated kick back day. I wanted to start the blog, look at the photos we took Saturday, and just hang out. I messed with the mapping program that came with the Garmin GPS and got the blog started.

The weather wasn't all that good either. In the afternoon, there was a short thunder shower which knocked out power for about 30 minutes. Anyway, it was a productive day.

Johnna has been playing black jack in the evenings and I must report the strange rules and procedures practiced by this casino.

The dealers don't shuffle cards; tables are equipped with machines called "Shuffle Masters." Cards are dealt from this multi deck automatic shuffler (No I didn't ask how many decks.) After two hands, about 30 cards or so, the dealer takes the dealt cards and feeds them back into the shuffling machine. I think the machine then mixes the cards up again, this would remove any possibility of counting cards or even keeping track of face cards and aces. Some how I think any advantage players may have are throne out the window with this device.

I didn't play but Johnna did and won around $ 30.00. However, except for the other unusual rule, limiting maximum bets to $ 5.00, she could have won much more. She won 8 or nine hands in a row and with her normal betting progression, she should have won over $ 100.00.

Another strange practice. I was watching play and the dealer spotted a king of spades with a beat up corner; after consulting with another dealer, he took the card out of play. I know, in a multi card shoe, one less high card may be statistically insignificant, but it seem to me the casino is taking advantage of players in ways Vegas casinos don't.
